Hut Ra messu mery Amun Temple Ramesses 2nd beloved of the hidden one
"The Temple of Ramesses 11 commisioned early in his reign, was completed after his 35th year. He commissioned 7 rock cut temples in kush/nubia the one at Abu simbel is clearly the greatest of them all. Abu Simbel is arabic and named after the child who led the explorers to the site.
The original name is Ra mess u meri amun /the suns anointed loved the creator. The face of the temple is faced with 4 colossal statues of the nesut bity (King of Upper and Lower Egypt) and stands at 67 feet tall by chance he ruled kemit for 67 years. This also shows that the large statues of 67 feet match his 67 year reign. The statues were designed to show the nesut bity as he ages, youthful from left to mature right. It also shows the nesut bity paying homage to the Ra/sun for the growth of his soul in his last life and to show this he reminds us by him facing the rising sun in the east or Ra-Horakhty forever. The symbolic nature of this monument shows the nesut bity with red skin which also shows him victorious over seth which is the flesh and him as the living heru.
By his legs are statues of his great royal wife nefertari, his mother mutuya prince Amenhirkhopshef Princess Bent’anta stood by the left leg Princess Nebettawy, the top of the temple is flanked by 21 baboons paying homage to the rising sun. The temple is also dedicated to the neteru ptah amun Ra-Horakhty and himself and is aligned with 2 important days of the year on March 21 the new year and September 21 the fall. This alignment is now off due to the movement of the temple in 1968 to prevent flooding.
The main reason for this temple was to remind us that its only through the sun that our physical bodies can stay alive for our souls to be perfected in it with this perfection our souls can become one with Ra and live forever.
